We see and use our furniture every day. We walk past it
without thinking about it, day in and day out. We throw our keys in
drawers, put our feet up on tables and sit in our chairs without any
thought about the usefulness and aesthetic quality of each piece.
My goal is to
make people excited about their furniture
long after the thrill of a new acquisition is gone. Whether
it’s the urge
to look, touch, smell, or different ways in which to use each piece, I
like the thought that people are interacting with their furniture in
multiple ways. I like to think they use each piece as more than
just a storage bin or a place to set their water glass down.
We buy furniture
for a reason. I believe that each piece is to be used in some
special way. Standing cabinets are of interest to me because I
like to imagine what may possibly go inside. I build each cabinet
with the idea that it will hold something of value.
When I start
working on a piece for a client, we sketch out a rough idea, from which
I create a piece to fulfill their expectations. Working in both
contemporary and traditional styles allows me to explore a great range
of possibilities.
I pick each
piece of lumber that will be used in each project, keeping an eye on the
grain, color, mechanical properties, and overall aesthetics.
Whenever possible, I use lumber from the same tree to maintain
continuity of color, texture and grain. From careful detail in
joinery, to re-sawing for the book-matched tabletops or doors, I ensure
that each piece of furniture that will last a lifetime.
Write or call me
if you are interested in having a unique, one of a kind piece of
furniture made for you. Or just feel free to call or write with
any comments. I’ll look forward to hearing from you.
